Preparing for wallpaper installation
A little planning makes it easier to have a clear conversation about your wallpaper project. Gather the information you already have and confirm room-preparation details with your installer.
Gather project information
- The project town and rooms you have in mind.
- Photos of each wall, including corners, windows, doors, and built-ins.
- Wallpaper brand, product name, pattern, and roll information, if selected.
- Approximate wall measurements, if available.
- Your preferred timing and any renovation work happening around the same time.
Talk through room access
Ask what should be moved or cleared before work begins, whether furniture needs to be shifted, and how to handle wall decor or window treatments. If the room is part of a larger renovation, let your installer know what else is planned.
Confirm preparation and next steps
Wall conditions and product instructions can vary. Ask your installer what preparation is needed, who will take care of it, and whether there is anything specific to do before work begins. It’s also helpful to confirm how the selected wallpaper and required rolls will be reviewed.
